BabysitterFinder ("the App", "we", "our") is a platform designed to connect parents with babysitters in their area. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

BabysitterFinder is a connection platform — a digital notice board that helps parents and babysitters find and contact each other. We do not:
- Employ any of the babysitters listed on the platform.
- Screen, verify, background-check, or endorse any user.
- Supervise, manage, or take responsibility for any meeting, arrangement, or activity that takes place between users.
- Guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or truthfulness of any user's profile information.
Disclaimer: BabysitterFinder bears no responsibility for any incident, harm, loss, or dispute that may arise from contact or meetings arranged through the App. All arrangements are made solely between the parent and the babysitter. Users are encouraged to exercise their own judgment, conduct independent verification, and take appropriate safety precautions before meeting in person or entering into any childcare arrangement. Use the App at your own risk.
📋 Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use the App:
- Account Information: Email address, password (stored as a secure hash), phone number, and profile name.
- Profile Information: Profile photo, address/location, role (parent or babysitter), availability schedule, and bio.
- Location Data: Your approximate address is used to show nearby babysitters or parents. Precise real-time GPS is not tracked in the background.
- Usage Data: Basic app activity (screens visited, features used) collected anonymously via analytics to improve the App.
- Device Information: Device type, OS version, and push notification token (for sending alerts).
- SOS Requests: Any SOS/urgent childcare request you submit, including timestamp and location, is stored and shown to nearby babysitters.
🔍 How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account.
- To display your profile to relevant users (parents see babysitters nearby; babysitters see SOS requests).
- To send push notifications relevant to your activity (new SOS requests, messages, etc.).
- To improve the App through aggregated, anonymised analytics.
- To respond to support requests.
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
We do not use your personal information for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making that affects your rights.
🤝 Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
Your data is processed by the following trusted service providers solely to operate the App:

Google Firebase (Google LLC) — Cloud database (Firestore),
authentication, file storage, and push messaging. Firebase processes data on our behalf
under Google's data processing terms.

🗂️ Data Storage & Retention
All data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers. Firebase data centers are located in the United States and/or the European Union depending on your region.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen — this permanently removes your profile and associated data from our systems within 30 days.
Some data may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form for analytical purposes even after account deletion.
🧒 Children's Privacy
BabysitterFinder is intended for use by adults (18 years of age or older) only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately and we will remove the account.
⚖️ Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information at any time from your profile settings.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen.
- Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to certain types of processing (e.g., analytics) by contacting us.

🔒 Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase Security Rules that restrict data access to authorised users only, and hashed password storage via Firebase Authentication.
However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your login credentials private.
📝 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
